Fast Facts About Anderson County Roads and Bridges

More than a third of Anderson County’s 1,550 miles of roads and, or near failing condition. One third of all bridges cannot be crossed by fire trucks or school buses.


The cost repair to repair just these roads/bridges in poor condition: $40o million.


Current roads/bridges funding from all sources is less than $3 million annually

The proposed one-penny sales tax would generate an estimated $375 million for road/bridge repair and maintenance over the next seven years (when the one-penny tax expires.)


More than 35 percent, an estimated $128 million of that funding, would come from those who live outside the county.


Anderson County only county in South Carolina without a funding mechanism for road work.


Average annual cost per citizen from one-penny tax: $292. (groceries are exempt from then one-penny proposal.)


The average current annual per-citizen costs of tire wear/alignment and other expenses related to poor roads: $591.


Better, safer roads are the goal of the November Fix Anderson Roads. If the measure fails, the number of failing Anderson County roads and bridges will continue to increase.
